Meet at Rakaia Saddle Carpark 10am
Starting at the Rakaia Saddle car park we will walk a circuit up over the  abandoned original skifield road, down through the skifield basin, returning to  the car via the current skifield road.
Along the way we will discuss interesting facts and history of the skifield,  look at the native alpine plants and weather permitting, take in spectacular  views.
The old road is walkable but it is a steady climb on loose stones. A good level of fitness, sturdy walking shoes and extra warm clothes are  required. Also bring along water, snacks and a light lunch.

The walk will take approx 4 hours that includes plenty of stops and lunch along the way.
