Methven has some great eating places and we are delighted to share some of them with you. We have chosen four well known restaurants to visit on our wine and food walk.
A day in the Canterbury High Country with a walk to a hut, a yarn, some history and good views. Numbers limited to 10. A reasonable level of fitness is required for this 5 hour walk.
Join us for an extra special night stroll through the Piwakawaka walk along the Methven walkway which will be lit up for a starlight adventure.
Meet at the Square in front of the Methven Medical Centre and come on a 1km (1-1 ½ hour) easy meander around what was the terminus for the Methven Railway, a branch line from Rakaia, which operated 1880-1976.
A fun few hours walking the tracks at the beautiful Awa Awa Rata Reserve to find cards you can exchange for Easter Eggs!
Our most popular walk is back. Join your favourite fairies, and of course the troll under the bridge for a fun family day out. Please come along dressed up and enjoy the different activities along the walk.
An easyish two hour return walk through through mountain beech forest/tawhairauriki alongside Bowyers Stream to Sharplin Falls. Self transport to meet at the Staveley Cafe.
Join us on a walk around Lake Emma to the hut with your pooch. This is a 7km round trip following a farm track around the lake. Please keep your dog on a leash. Bring water for you and your dog, your lunch, poo bags and suitable footwear and clothing.
