Limited numbers, registration essential (12 people max)
Meet at the Square in front of the Methven Medical Centre and come on a 1km (1-1 ½ hour) easy meander around what was the terminus for the Methven Railway, a branch line from Rakaia, which operated 1880-1976. The background, construction, logistics and demise of the line will be described, augmented by historic photographs, anecdotes and a few relics, but some imagination is required. The walk will end back on Main Street, near the Museum (which will be open), 250m south of the starting point. Cost – $10 per person (donation to Methven Historical Society)
